EL YUNQUE RAINFOREST

You do not need a tour for this. However many people do book tours for the different hiking paths, zip lining, and more but it's not necessary. Admission is also free. Parking is limited to be sure to get there early.  I was expecting a parking lot but it's not. It's just a cluster of parking spaces off the side of the road- maybe 10 spots here, drive down a little further and you'll find another 5 spots, etc. We got there around 10:30 and had to drive up and down a few times until we found a spot. At one point we actually left to go get lunch and then came back and found a spot.

We did Juan Diego falls, La Coca falls, and Mt. Britton tower.

La Coca and Juan Diego are close to each other and right off 191. La Coca you can park right off the road and walk up to it. We climbed to the top of the rock to get these photos. Be careful climbing, the rocks combined with mud can be slippery.

For Juan Diego falls, again you park off the road and you follow the trail. You'll see small water falls along the path, but you can see more behind them. We followed the trail up and hoped for the best, lol. There were also a bunch of other people doing the same. Once we reached this bigger waterfall the crowd that was there started disappearing by the time we actually reached it so that was nice.

Hiking Mt Britton was all uphill so make sure you bring a lot of water and snacks. It was about a mile up and a mile down - a steep climb at that. The view was worth it!

Tip: Make sure to bring hiking sandals or sneakers you don't mind getting dirty. I wore birks/swim shoes. The waterfalls have rocks in the water so the water shoes were helpful. We also took our dry bag and used this for shoes, my camera, the GoPro, and other items.

See the video I made on this HERE.
